The Berthoud Surveyor covered a special project that we recently completed that brought together craftsmanship, creativity, and community spirit. In October 2025, we installed a freestanding exterior sign for the Berthoud Library that looks like a giant book. This piece is more than just a sign; it’s a symbol of knowledge and imagination, designed to welcome visitors and spark curiosity. Today, I want to share the story behind this unique creation and highlight a newspaper article from the local paper that features our work.
Bringing the Vision to Life
When the Berthoud Library approached us with the idea of a sign, we knew this project would be special. The goal was to create something that reflected the library’s mission and stood out as a landmark in the community. We worked closely with the library staff to design a sign that would be both eye-catching and durable.
The sign measures about 4.5 feet tall and 6 feet wide, crafted from forged metal and fabricated with attention to detail. The pages of the book are slightly open, giving the impression of a story waiting to be read. We chose materials that could withstand the Colorado weather while maintaining an elegant finish. The installation took place on a crisp October morning, and throughout the process we received tons of compliments from onlookers and library patrons.
